Use these easy steps to make your own DIY cannabis cooking oil!
There are many ways to make your own cannabis edibles. An easy method we have found is by turning concentrates, such as hash and kief, into a standard infused cooking oil that can be included in most cooking recipes. Keep in mind when making your own edibles, cannabis loves attaching itself to fatty molecules for more consistent effects! You can start by making your own oil with these easy steps:
-
In order to experience the full effects of your kief or hash, you must decarboxylate it first. You can find instructions on how to decarboxylate your kief/hash here.
-
Once the kief/hash has been decarboxylated, it is ready to infuse your edible, preferably an oil such as coconut, olive or avocado.
-
Put your cooled, oven-safe container, that contains your decarboxylated kief/hash, on an electric warmer plate that has been turned to on. If you don't have a warmer plate, most coffee makers have one that can be utilized.
-
Add your preferred cooking oil to the oven-safe container. The more oil you add, the less potent the end product will be, so be sure to measure appropriately until you reach your desired potency.
-
Bonus Step: Add sunflower lecithin to your oil and kief/hash mixture. Sunflower lecithin is an emulsifier that will make your cannabis infusion more bioavailable, thus increasing the effectiveness of the cannabinoids. For every one cup of infused oil, add 1 teaspoon of sunflower lecithin. Sunflower lecithin is an optional ingredient and is not necessary to make an effective infused cooking oil.
-
Stir the warming oil, kief/hash and sunflower lecithin mixture until a homogeneous mixture is achieved. You now have an infused oil that you can add to any edible dish.
